BREAKING NEWS: While I was composing the message below, I received a report from Tony Tur (USFWS) that the VINS Raptor Center in Norwich, VT has received the carcass of black A/S (PTT 79606), the 1-yr old from the Blueberry Island nest whose transmitter mysteriously stopped functioning at the end of December when the bird was in northern NJ. According to available info, it was seen alive in late July in the vicinity of Lake Morey in Fairlee, VT, but was dead when turned in to VINS. More details as they become available.
